SEPTEMBER, SEPTEMBER: ANOTHER YEAR WINDS DOWN

THANKS FOR THE HELP!

After last month’s plea for help with editing and proofing the
Sentinel, three good citizens volunteered to proofread. Ginny
Sanders, Mike Montgomery and Michael Stone all offered—
and believe me, I accepted their help! It has been many a year
since an edition of the Sentinel has been vetted as thoroughly
as this one! So, if you find an error, just keep it quiet. We’d like
to believe we caught them all!
Now, about my plea for new writers on various subjects... Any-
one?

THE 2016 GOOSE RESCUE

At the end of July, three Canadian geese on the Gateway Pond
at Perry Park Ranch were shot by darts. Residents set out to
catch them so the darts could be removed. Reward money
was offered in hopes of gaining information about the person
who injured the geese, and $1130 has currently been collected.
However, as of this writing, there has been no rescue of the in-
jured geese or information about the shooter(s). Many obstacles
and much red tape were thrown in the path of the rescuers, and
in the interim, the youngest goose was found dead. The efforts
by residents and professional animal rehabbers still continue as
of this writing, but frustrations abound. See Melissa Bronson’s
report on page 7. Updates will appear on the several Lark-
spur community Facebook pages.

AUTUMNAL THOUGHTS

There are yellow leaves on my crabapple tree. The summer
flowers are gone. The temperature has already dipped into the
40s overnight. The fawns of May and June are beginning to
lose their spots. Vacations are ended; school has started. But
as far as I’m concerned, the fall of the year in Colorado is the
most beautiful, the most comfortable. Easy living—no heat,
no snow.

So enjoy the season. ~KDale
